Weekly sessions – 60 minutes

This agreement covers both Private Lessons (guitar, piano, ukulele, songwriting, music production and music theory) and the Songwriting & Production Mentorship. Unless a section says otherwise, it applies to both.

1. What You Can Expect

Private instruction is designed to help students build strong musical foundations, develop confidence, and make consistent progress toward their individual goals. Sessions are personalized to each student’s age, experience level, interests, and learning style.

Students will receive:

  • Personalized 1-on-1 instruction tailored to their goals and experience level
  • Guidance in technique, musicianship, repertoire, and performance
  • Support with areas such as rhythm, ear training, music theory, improvisation, and reading music as appropriate
  • Songs and material selected around the student’s interests and developmental needs
  • Clear goals and guidance for practice between lessons
  • Ongoing feedback and progress check-ins

For students under 18: The parent or guardian is considered the client for billing, scheduling, and communication purposes, and will receive periodic progress updates.

2. Songwriting & Production Mentorship

  • The Mentorship is weekly 1-on-1 coaching in songwriting, arranging, recording, and music production for teens and adults.
  • All work happens during our scheduled session time. Tuition covers session time and guidance only. It does not include a finished, release-ready song or any production, mixing, mastering, or other work done outside our sessions.
  • Progress depends on the student’s pace, practice, and goals. No specific outcome (such as a completed or released song) is promised.
  • If the student wants a song professionally produced, mixed, and mastered beyond our time together, Blake will evaluate what it needs to be release-ready and provide a separate quote. That work is only done under a separate signed Music Production Agreement.
  • The student keeps ownership of their own original songs (lyrics and melody) written during sessions. Rough recordings made during sessions are for learning purposes.

3. Format & Location

Sessions are offered in one of the following formats:

  • Online
  • In person at my studio in Oakland Park, FL
  • In person at the student’s home, within about 20 minutes of Oakland Park (In-home) or 20 to 35 minutes (In-home, extended area). Homes farther than about 35 minutes are offered online only.

For in-home sessions with students under 18, a parent, guardian, or other responsible adult must be present in the home for the full session. The client agrees to provide a reasonably quiet space for the session.

4. Scheduling

  • Sessions are held weekly on the same set day and time
  • Schedule changes can be made when necessary, but consistency is the default and strongly encouraged
  • At least 24 hours’ notice is required to cancel or reschedule

5. Payment & Plans

  • All plans are prepaid. Monthly plans are billed automatically each month at a flat rate, regardless of how many weeks are in the month.
  • Lesson plans are available monthly or as 6-month and 12-month prepaid commitments (prepaid plans include a discount). Single lessons are also available. The Mentorship is billed monthly.
  • Trial lessons at the studio or online are free. In-home trial lessons are $65, credited toward the first month if the student enrolls.
  • Payments are securely auto-billed through Stripe
  • No refunds once payment is made
  • If I ever need to cancel a session, you’ll receive a make-up or full session credit

6. Rescheduling Policy

  • Sessions may be rescheduled with at least 24 hours’ notice to retain credit
  • Sessions missed or canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice are not eligible for rescheduling
  • If I cancel for any reason, I’ll promptly reschedule or issue a credit

7. Session Expectations

For the Student

  • Arrive prepared and ready to engage at an age-appropriate level
  • Bring any required instrument, materials, music, or assignments
  • Practice between sessions as appropriate to support continued progress
  • Be open to instruction, feedback, and trying new material

For the Parent (if applicable)

  • Encourage consistent practice and participation between sessions
  • You’ll receive periodic progress updates and may reach out at any time
  • All communication and logistics will be handled professionally and respectfully

8. Photo, Video & Audio Release

  • Blake may occasionally record short photo, video, or audio clips during sessions (for example, a student playing a song they learned, or a before-and-after progress clip).
  • By signing, the client gives BD Studios permission to use these clips for teaching and promotional purposes, including the BD Studios website and social media, without payment.
  • For students under 18, only the student’s first name will ever be used, and no contact details, school, or home location will be shared.
  • The client may opt out at any time, or ask for any specific clip to be removed, by written notice to contact@blakedahlmeyer.com. Removal requests will be honored within 7 days for content BD Studios controls.

9. Termination

  • You may cancel your plan at any time with written notice before the next billing date
  • I reserve the right to discontinue instruction in cases of repeated missed sessions, non-payment, or ongoing lack of participation

10. Confidentiality

All materials, communications, and terms remain confidential unless mutually agreed otherwise, except as allowed under Section 8.

11. Liability

Instructor is not liable for unforeseen technical issues (e.g., data corruption, hardware failure) but will take all reasonable measures to resolve.

12. Governing Law

This Agreement is governed by the laws of Florida. Any disputes will be resolved in Broward County, Florida, unless mutually agreed otherwise.

13. Acceptance (Electronic Signature)

By checking the required agreement box, signing electronically, and submitting the enrollment form, the parent/guardian (or student, if 18 or older) acknowledges that they have read, understood, and agreed to be legally bound by this Agreement.

This electronic signature is valid under the U.S. Electronic Signatures in Global and National Commerce Act (E-SIGN Act) and the Uniform Electronic Transactions Act (UETA).
